    Improving Opportunities for Inclusive Recreation of Persons with Disability: Application of the Social Ecological Model.

    In this presentation I explore how the Social Ecological Model could be applied (both theoretically and specifically) towards the identification of barriers and appropriate interventions to facilitate opportunities for Inclusive Recreation of persons with disabilities.

    Situational Assessment Worksheet: 

    Improving Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Physical Recreation in Cambridge, Ontario.

    This worksheet serves as a next step in the process of exploring viable health promotion options and initiatives to improve the participation of persons with disabilities in physical recreation. Guiding questions are used to  examine the current situation, climate for change, and available resources that may assist in the process of solution-making.

    As a continuation of the situational assessment process, this worksheet provides guiding questions to assist in the identification of stakeholders to engage in planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of a chosen health promotion initiative. Answers listed are specific to my chosen topic of improving participation of persons with disabilities in physical recreation.

    Environmental Scan: 

    Improving Participation of Youth and Young Adults with Disability in Physical Recreation in Cambridge Ontario

    Date: November, 2024

    This document highlights the results of a rapid environmental scan to inform processes of planning and intervention to improve the participation of youth and young adults with disability in Cambridge, Ontario. The scan employed a passive approach to data collection, using primarily a review of available published research (within the last five years) as well as review of City webpages and publicly-available reports, imposing significant limitations. A future scan would aim to be far more comprehensive, using both passive and active approaches to data collection, including notably, the engagement of a variety of community stakeholders to accurately represent the needs, interests, and preferences of YYAWD and those in their support system, and inform improvements to City programs that are both meaningful and sustainable.

    In this paper I detail suggested steps for the completion of a thorough, disability-minded situational assessment to improve the participation of youth and young adults with disability in physical recreation in Cambridge, Ontario.  Use of an inclusion-focused logic model intended to guide users through the assessment process while ensuring the consistent engagement of persons with disabilities and those in their support systems

    Championing Interprofessional Collaboration in Health Care: The Leader's Role.

    In this presentation I explore the the concept of Interprofessional Collaboration and how a collective approach to leadership may be useful in its successful implementation in health care organizations. Specific strategies for leadership and evaluation are also discussed.

    In this paper I describe the fictional health care organization Health Care Connect - A Family Health Team with a mission “[t]o provide excellent, collaborative, interprofessional, and integrated care that meets the diverse needs of the local community” as informed and influenced by a flattened and agile structure and humble leadership style.

    Synopsis: 

    Creating Engagement-Capable Environments in Ontario Health Teams: A Framework for Action.

    This table provides an overview of a suggested framework for community engagement in Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) - A developing model of care in Ontario. Use of the framework will assist OHTs to ensure continued patient-centeredness in operations and activities.  The framework was developed by the Public and Patient Engagement Collaborative at McMaster University.
